Anton — design and the tech
I'm Anton Van Biesen. I love technology and things that are made well. Bubli started with one machine in a kitchen corner. A few months later there were four of them in a proper studio.
I design the products in Fusion 360, fine-tune the production, and make sure everything is ready within a few days. The tech interests me, but for me Bubli is first and foremost a home decor brand. How we make it is a production choice. The story is in what we make.
Sara — colour, finish and markets
Sara Wittevrongel does much more than she'd admit herself.
She has a far better eye than I do for colour combinations that work. A product is only finished when she's confirmed it really clicks: the shade, the sheen, the finish, the small details that make the difference between ok and I want one.
Sara also runs the markets we attend, manages the Instagram, sets prices and thinks ahead about what we'll make next season. She also has a full-time job and is a mum at home. Something something about closing the loop.
A studio that smells like coffee and warm plastic.
Our studio is in Antwerp. Four machines run there six days a week. We work with PLA, a plant-based bioplastic that's pleasant to handle and stays beautiful indoors for years.
Every colour on the site has been tested in-house first. If we're not sure: old colour out, new one in, try again. Only when Sara says yes, it goes into production.
What we actually believe
- 1
A home is allowed to have colour. Beige and grey are fine neutrals, but one or two pastel accents make a room much more cheerful.
- 2
Colour can stay soft. Pastels that stand out without making a fuss, that's what we build the collection around.
- 3
Local, made to order, in small batches. We only make it after you've placed your order. No stock sitting in boxes on a shelf.
